Mapping Memory 2.0

Presented at the exhibition “kartographierte Impulse einer Bewegung

As the continuation of Mapping Memory 1.0, the form of this video-sculpture evokes the image of a speech bubble created from sheets of newspaper. The work deals with spatial composition and the use of space.

A collapsed jacket which comes to life again, just for a moment, can be seen on the ground.

Materials used: painted newspaper, white and pink cardboard, and nylon thread. The hanging paper pieces build the projection screen and installation space. The video image is mapped exactly on the sheets of paper creating a net and organism that comes to live during the video projection. The video level is divided in 5 parts and runs on the paper levels in an algorithm. The overall view generated constantly changes in response. The view the audience sees is never the same.
